I'm Alton Bell Smythe

As part of the product team, I took full ownership of critical projects, driving them from concept to delivery while ensuring technical excellence and product impact:

• Collaborated directly with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define scope, shape features, and set priorities aligned with the product vision.
• Balanced technical strategy and product goals, ensuring that engineering decisions delivered measurable value to both users and the business.
• Led the architectural design and implementation of a new scalable API platform using Node.js, Express, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and Redis on AWS.
• Directed the company-wide adoption of TypeScript, establishing coding standards and best practices to improve maintainability and developer productivity.
• Spearheaded the implementation of high-standard automated testing, significantly increasing coverage and building a culture of quality-first development.
• Guided the creation of the mobile application using Expo and React Native, with a local-first architecture to ensure seamless offline usage.

At Atlas, I contributed to key backend and mobile initiatives, focusing on scalability, maintainability, and developer productivity:

• Advocated for and led the adoption of TypeScript across projects, improving type safety and long-term maintainability.
• Designed and built the foundational architecture for a new scalable API using Node.js, Express, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and Redis, hosted on AWS.
• Established high-standard automated test coverage to ensure code reliability and prevent regressions.
• Initiated and developed the groundwork for a mobile application using Expo and React Native, implementing a local-first data strategy for robust offline support.

My main task is to unblock anybody on my team. Always trying to share knowledge and help them to improve their skills. I enjoy looking for performance spots, database/query issues, and love learning! Always trying to spread the knowledge, fomenting good practices at the team especially in code reviews and pair programming. Also, working closely with Product, DevOps, Security, and other teams, to develop together effective technical solutions.

I work as a Full Stack Engineer mainly focus on the development of features to provide management capabilities. We use ReactJS in the front-end and Express with NodeJS, MongoDB and Redis at the back-end, both using Typescript, testing with Cucumber and everything working together with Docker

I worked with ReactJS and Redux in the development of complex tools using SCRUM. Testing with Jest and continuous deployment/integration tools like Jenkins.

I worked with Laravel in the development of custom websites and APIs, I also developep with ReactJS for web and React Native for mobile, in both cases using SCRUM with Jira software.

I led the systems area of the Nueva Esparta University constituted by 6 developers assigning and planning the corresponding tasks to carry out the requirements of the users in a successful way and implement the GitFlow workflow

I worked in the web system for students and staff of the Nueva Esparta University developing in PHP with ZendFramework using Bootstrap and jQuery, additionally my degree work was the realization of a mobile app in Android for the Nueva Esparta University, it was developed in AngularJS with Ionic using material design and the API was made with Lumen (Laravel).
